What We Do
- Faith Haven can house up to 12 children at the same time. We can serve ages birth thru 18 and of both sexes, who are in custody of the Mississippi Department of Child Protective Services. We can accept children from every county in Mississippi. Our length of stay is up to 45 days. In some situations, if we have the bed space available, we can go into overflow to help keep a sibling group together.
- We evaluate each child and work closely with the county of responsibility in meeting the services needed for each child. Medical, dental, vision and psychological exams are among the services that are provided. We ensure that each child has proper clothing and shoes, and counseling services are also available each week.
- Children that are of school age are enrolled in public school and tutoring is available in the afternoon 4 days each week.
- We also schedule outings and recreational activities for the children. The children are often playing card games, board games and video games with the staff. They also enjoy activities such as skating, swimming, bowling and going to the movies. Faith Haven also has a large recreational room that allows the children to enjoy ping pong, arcade games, and foosball.
- Although we want to meet all the physical needs of each child, we feel it is more important to help them emotionally and to make each child feel that they are cared for and in a safe place.
Our Services
Although our children are only with us for a short time, we want to offer more than just the basic necessities of food, shelter, & clothing. We want to give them as much emotional support as we can through staff nurturing and counseling services. We believe that providing as many services as needed for each child during their stay at Faith Haven will strengthen the ability that each child needs to make their next placement an easy and lasting transition.
